A few words about Kailasagiri that you cannot afford to miss


The lush green Kailasagiri Park offers a panoramic view, making it a beautiful

tourist attraction in Visakhapatnam. Spread over 100 acres on a hilltop. It also

offers a plenty of leisure activities and well maintained places. It is one of the well-

known hilltop parks with a wide sea view on the East Coast and several view

points to enjoy the tranquil atmosphere and scenic beauty.However, the main

attraction is undoubtedly the massive 40 feet tall Shiva Parvathi statue made from

white marble. This is one side of kailasagiri which was known by everyone but the

actual history is



At the time of World war-II this place has been used as a safe place for British

soldiers as it is situated at an altitude of 360ft.During this period Om kareswara

swami named swamiji used to come and take rest here but the ruthless soldiers

make him to get out of there. Later on however with the attracting speech and

moral values he gained the hearts of the soldiers and continued his dhayanam on a

marble stone which is well known as “Om kareswara dhyana raya” on the

devotional hill top.

Before Britishers leaving from India gifted him a Siva Parvathi statue in 1950. So

the name Kailasagiri was named based on its height. It is also famous for nature

and pleasant.
